God commanded the Children of Isreal to build The Ark of God. This was built to hold the Ten Commandments that God gave to Moses. The Bible teaches us that the Ark of God is a type of Jesus. Listen to the following address to discover more about The Ark of God and how it speaks to us as a type of Christ.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Exodus 25:10-22 “10 And they shall make an ark of acacia-wood; two cubits and a half the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.11 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold: inside and outside shalt thou overlay it; and shalt make upon it a border of gold round about.12 And cast four rings of gold for it, and put [them] at the four corners thereof, that two rings may be upon the one side thereof and two rings upon the other side thereof.13 And make staves of acacia-wood and overlay them with gold.
14 And put the staves into the rings upon the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them.15 The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not come out from it.16 And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony that I shall give thee.17 And thou shalt make a mercy-seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.18 And thou shalt make two cherubim of gold; [of] beaten work shalt thou make them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat.19 And make one cherub at the end of the one side, and one cherub at the end of the other side; out of the mercy-seat shall ye make the cherubim at the two ends thereof.20 And the cherubim shall stretch out [their] wings over it, covering over with their wings the mercy-seat, and their faces opposite to one another: toward the mercy-seat shall the faces of the cherubim be [turned].21 And thou shalt put the mercy-seat above on the ark, and shalt put in the ark the testimony that I shall give thee.22 And there will I meet with thee, and will speak with thee from above the mercy-seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, everything that I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”
Numbers 10:33-36 “33 And they set forward from the mountain of Jehovah [and went] three days’ journey; and the ark of the covenant of Jehovah went before them in the three days’ journey, to search out a resting-place for them.34 And the cloud of Jehovah was over them by day when they set forward out of the camp.35 And it came to pass when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, Jehovah, and let thine enemies be scattered; And let them that hate thee flee before thy face.36 And when it rested, he said, Return, Jehovah, unto the myriads of the thousands of Israel.”
Joshua 3:14-17 “14 And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, that the priests bearing the ark of the covenant were before the people;15 and when they that bore the ark were come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (and the Jordan is full over all its banks throughout the days of harvest),16 the waters which flowed down from above stood [and] rose up in a heap, very far, by Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan; and those that flowed down towards the sea of the plain, the salt sea, were completely cut off. And the people went over opposite to Jericho.17 And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan. And all Israel went over on dry ground, until all the nation had completely gone over the Jordan.”
1 Samuel 5:1-5 And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ezer to Ashdod.2 And the Philistines took the ark of God and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.3 And when they of Ashdod arose early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.4 And when they arose early the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen on his face to the ground before the ark of Jehovah; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the fish-stump was left to him.5 Therefore neither the priests of Dagon nor any that come into Dagon’s house tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod to this day.”
2 Chronicles 6:10-11 “10 And Jehovah has performed his word which he spoke; and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah promised, and I have built the house unto the name of Jehovah the God of Israel.11 And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of Jehovah, which he made with the children of Israel.”
