“Recently, many men and women have been striving for bronze, silver, or gold at the Olympics in Paris. In this preaching, you will hear about the reward that God desires to give you in the Gospel. None of us deserve this reward; we have all fallen short of the glory of God. But God loves you so much that He has provided salvation from your sins through the person of the Lord Jesus.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Luke 23:39-43 “39 Now one of the malefactors who had been hanged spoke insultingly to him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost *thou* too not fear God, thou that art under the same judgment?41 and *we* indeed justly, for we receive the just recompense of what we have done; but this [man] has done nothing amiss.42 And he said to Jesus, Remember me, [Lord,] when thou comest in thy kingdom.43 And Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, To-day shalt thou be with me in paradise.44 And it was about [the] sixth hour, and there came darkness over the whole land until [the] ninth hour.
45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple rent in the midst.46 And Jesus, having cried with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit. And having said this, he expired.”
Psalm 103:10-12 “10 He hath not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving-kindness toward them that fear him.12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
Luke 15:20-24 “20 And he rose up and went to his own father. But while he was yet a long way off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell upon his neck, and covered him with kisses.21 And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee; I am no longer worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his bondmen, Bring out the best robe and clothe him in [it], and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;23 and bring the fatted calf and kill it, and let us eat and make merry:24 for this my son was dead and has come to life, was lost and has been found. And they began to make merry.”
