From Distress to Deliverance

Preachers Corner https://www.preacherscorner.org.uk

Many people today find themselves distressed by the trials and worries of life. The Gospel calls sinners to the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, whom He sent as the Saviour of the world. There is hope for the distressed sinner in the Gospel because Jesus has come to bring salvation and turn darkness into light. He welcomes you through the Gospel. Have you accepted His invitation?

Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation

1 Samuel 22:1-2And David departed thence, and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And his brethren and all his father’s house heard [it], and they went down thither to him.And every one in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one of embittered spirit collected round him; and he became a captain over them; and there were with him about four hundred men.”

Luke 24:13-2713 And behold, two of them were going on the same day to a village distant sixty stadia from Jerusalem, called Emmaus;14 and they conversed with one another about all these things which had taken place.15 And it came to pass as they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus himself drawing nigh, went with them;16 but their eyes were holden so as not to know him.

17 And he said to them, What discourses are these which pass between you as ye walk, and are downcast?18 And one [of them], named Cleopas, answering said to him, Thou sojournest alone in Jerusalem, and dost not know what has taken place in it in these days?19 And he said to them, What things? And they said to him, The things concerning Jesus the Nazaraean, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people;20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to [the] judgment of death and crucified him.

21 But *we* had hoped that *he* was [the one] who is about to redeem Israel. But then, besides all these things, it is now, to-day, the third day since these things took place.22 And withal, certain women from amongst us astonished us, having been very early at the sepulchre,23 and, not having found his body, came, saying that they also had seen a vision of angels, who say that he is living.24 And some of those with us went to the sepulchre, and found it so, as the women also had said, but him they saw not.

25 And *he* said to them, O senseless and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!26 Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory?27 And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-1813 But we do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are fallen asleep, to the end that ye be not grieved even as also the rest who have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus has died and has risen again, so also God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep through Jesus.

15 (For this we say to you in [the] word of [the] Lord, that *we*, the living, who remain to the coming of the Lord, are in no way to anticipate those who have fallen asleep;

16 for the Lord himself, with an assembling shout, with archangel’s voice and with trump of God, shall descend from heaven; and the dead in Christ shall rise first;17 then *we*, the living who remain, shall be caught up together with them in [the] clouds, to meet the Lord in [the] air; and thus we shall be always with [the] Lord.18 So encourage one another with these words.)”

Philippians 4:1111 Not that I speak as regards privation, for as to me *I* have learnt in those circumstances in which I am, to be satisfied in myself.”

Philippians 4:1313 I have strength for all things in him that gives me power.”
