Jesus tells Peter to “feed my lambs” new established believers. This was a direct commission to Peter in John 21 but there is call in the scriptures for the church to also take on responsibility for providing spiritual food for God’s people today. “Who then is the faithful and prudent bondman whom his lord has set over his household, to give them food in season?”
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Matthew 24:45 “45 Who then is the faithful and prudent bondman whom his lord has set over his household, to give them food in season?”
1 Corinthians 3:1-7 “3 And *I*, brethren, have not been able to speak to you as to spiritual, but as to fleshly; as to babes in Christ.2 I have given you milk to drink, not meat, for ye have not yet been able, nor indeed are ye yet able;
3 for ye are yet carnal. For whereas [there are] among you emulation and strife, are ye not carnal, and walk according to man?4 For when one says, *I* am of Paul, and another, *I* of Apollos, are ye not men?5 Who then is Apollos, and who Paul? Ministering servants, through whom ye have believed, and as the Lord has given to each.6 *I* have planted; Apollos watered; but God has given the increase. 7 So that neither the planter is anything, nor the waterer; but God the giver of the increase.”
Hebrews 5:12-14 “12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have again need that [one] should teach you what [are] the elements of the beginning of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk, [and] not of solid food.13 For every one that partakes of milk [is] unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe;
14 but solid food belongs to full-grown men, who, on account of habit, have their senses exercised for distinguishing both good and evil.”
Hebrews 6:1 “6 Wherefore, leaving the word of the beginning of the Christ, let us go on [to what belongs] to full growth,”
