The Bible tells us when the fulness of time was come God sent forth His son, Jesus Christ as the Saviour for sinners. Throughout the scriptures the word, Emmanuel appears many times and it means God with us. Jesus was born into this world to bring hope to mankind. Over 2000 years ago Jesus willing laid down his life at Calvary’s cross to bring salvation for sinners.
This time of year it is very easy to become overwhelmed by all the traditions of Christmas and lose sight of greatest story of all the birth of a king, Jesus Christ. The Gospel is a wonderful message of hope about a king who was born to save mankind from their sins. The Lord Jesus was God’s son sent into this world to bring salvation by going to Calvary’s cross where he laid down His life for you. Jesus was A king born to save sinners.
Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew to “Seek ye first the kingdom of God” and he promises blessing if obey his words. What are your priorities? Often as Christians we can take our eyes what really matters. Jesus said seek God’s Kingdom, follow Him and he will come in blessing.
Jesus tells Peter to “feed my lambs” new established believers. This was a direct commission to Peter in John 21 but there is call in the scriptures for the church to also take on responsibility for providing spiritual food for God’s people today. “Who then is the faithful and prudent bondman whom his lord has set over his household, to give them food in season?”
Have you heard the joyful sound? Jesus saves. The Gospel is preached because there is a wonderful Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ and He is able to save you. In the book of Acts the writer, Luke gives a snapshot of the early church. Luke tells us that the early believers persevered in the teaching and fellowship of the apostles, in breaking of bread and prayers. Another scriptures tells us that they continued preaching and sharing that Jesus was the Son of God. This should be our focus today to go and make disciples of all nations just as Jesus said.
God has revealed His wonderful love to us in His son, Jesus Christ. At the cross the Lord Jesus stepped into the sinner’s place that we may be saved from our sins and brought into eternal life. The Lord Jesus Christ came into this world to suffer and die at Calvary’s cross to save undeserving sinners. What a message of hope the Gospel is? This world can offer you no hope, no peace and no joy but the Gospel is preached that you may receive these things by coming to know the Saviour, Jesus Christ.
God’s boundless love can set you free from the power of sin and death. The Gospel is preached to announce to mankind the wonderful Salvation of God that is available because of the work of the Lord Jesus.
