The Gospel of Jesus Christ and God’s plan of salvation are foreshadowed in the book of Genesis. After sin entered the world, God promised a Redeemer, saying the “seed of the woman” would crush the serpent’s head. This points to Jesus’ victory over sin and Satan, revealing God’s plan to save sinners from the coming judgment.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Genesis 2:15-17 “15 And Jehovah Elohim took Man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to till it and to guard it.16 And Jehovah Elohim commanded Man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou shalt freely eat;17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt certainly die.”
Genesis 3:1-7 “3 And the serpent was more crafty than any animal of the field which Jehovah Elohim had made. And it said to the woman, Is it even so, that God has said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3 but of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, God has said, Ye shall not eat of it, and ye shall not touch it, lest ye die.4 And the serpent said to the woman, Ye will not certainly die;5 but God knows that in the day ye eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and ye will be as God, knowing good and evil.
6 And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a pleasure for the eyes, and the tree was to be desired to give intelligence; and she took of its fruit, and ate, and gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig-leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”
Genesis 3:22-24 “22 And Jehovah Elohim said, Behold, Man is become as one of us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he stretch out his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever …!23 Therefore Jehovah Elohim sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.24 And he drove out Man; and he set the Cherubim, and the flame of the flashing sword, toward the east of the garden of Eden, to guard the way to the tree of life.”
Genesis 3:15 “15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall crush thy head, and thou shalt crush his heel.”
Genesis 22:1-3 “22 And it came to pass after these things, that God tried Abraham, and said to him, Abraham! and he said, Here am I.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only [son], whom thou lovest, Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah, and there offer him up for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.3 And Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up and went to the place that God had told him of.”
Genesis 22:10-14 “10 And Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to slaughter his son. 11 And the Angel of Jehovah called to him from the heavens, and said, Abraham, Abraham! And he said, Here am I. 12 And he said, Stretch not out thy hand against the lad, neither do anything to him; for now I know that thou fearest God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son], from me. 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind was a ram caught in the thicket by its horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt-offering instead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh; as it is said at the present day, On the mount of Jehovah will be provided.”
