Many in the world today would claim to have found wisdom. The Bible tells us that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. The Gospel is preached to annouce God’s plan of Salvation to mankind. Paul writes in Corinthians, “ the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but to us that are saved it is God’s power.” Jesus came into this world to save you from your sins and bring salvation to a broken world.
Bible Scriptures: Darby Translation
Proverbs 1:7 “7 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge: fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 8:1-11 “8 Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding give forth her voice?2 On the top of high places by the way, at the cross-paths she taketh her stand.3 Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors, she crieth aloud.4 Unto you, men, I call, and my voice is to the sons of man:5 O ye simple, understand prudence; and ye foolish, understand sense.
6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7 For my palate shall meditate truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing tortuous or perverse in them.9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold:11 for wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not equal to it.”
1 Corinthians 1:18-25 “18 For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but to us that are saved it is God’s power.19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and set aside the understanding of the understanding ones.20 Where [is the] wise? where scribe? where disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom has not known God, God has been pleased by the foolishness of the preaching to save those that believe.
22 Since Jews indeed ask for signs, and Greeks seek wisdom;23 but *we* preach Christ crucified, to Jews an offence, and to nations foolishness;24 but to those that [are] called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ God’s power and God’s wisdom.25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”
